The Return of Zitty Ben!

Zitty Ben

Strange Tales From A Music Paper was the comic strip that ran in Smash Hits 1980 - 1981. The strip's creator, Mark Casto, believed that all his work was lost until he discovered this archive and was able to read his strips for the first time in thirty years.

Mark's new blog collects The Adventures Of Zitty Ben in one place - and he has taken up his pens and pencils to draw the first new Zitty Ben strips since the early eighties.

As if that weren't exciting enough, I am delighted to find that yours truly makes an appearance in this cartoon - as the angelic being who reawakens Zitty from his slumbers!

  2. This is amazing! I was reminiscing with my brother about our favourite strips back in the day and amongst mine, I cited Zitty Ben (WHAMMA, WHAMMA, WHAMMA!! Oh no, my stereo blew up!"),in fact, now in our fifties, we still repeat that quote whenever the occasion presents itself . I wondered if something would come up in Google and presto, I ended up here.

I had most if not all the collection in a box in my parents' loft until about twenty years ago, when my mum did a clear up and got rid of it all along my Roy of the Rovers and Beanos while I was traveling through Latin America .

Thanks very much for keeping the pimpled one's legacy alive, and has Mark Casto resurrected him fully?

  3. Actually, I meant "KABOOM!", not "WHAMMA WHAMMA WHAMMA" 🤭
